Job Description

Duties includes and are not limited to collection and consolidation of data from different sources and formats into standard data models, transformation of data into critical information. The DB Engineer devises solutions to be able to keep data available, secured, accurate, reliable, and easily accessible to users for consumption and other systems for integration. As Technical Lead, he/she serves as a subject-matter and leads a team of Database Engineers or similar roles. This role is the first point of escalation for high priority and/or complex requests.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

• Serves as the subject matter expert and the first point of escalation for high priority and/or complex requests
• Handles highly complex, cross-functional, and enterprise IT and business intelligence solutions
• Leads and organizes projects
A. Project Planning

• Translates business and functional requirements into technical requirements and solutions
• Participate in project management estimation
• Develop and manage activities and timelines
• May participate in the development of business cases of other IT projects
• Coordinates with Business/BI Analysts to understand requirements
B. Development and Deployment 

• Designs, develops and tests solutions such as databases, objects, data warehouses, T-SQLs, ETLs, reports and dashboards
• Supports in the integration of BI solutions with other systems
• Analyzes requirements to ensure technical and SOP impacts are considered
• Limits the number of non-standard solutions and escalates with proper documentation when necessary
• Continually attempts to improve performance and efficiency
• Collaborates with Business/BI Analysts and other groups to strategically identify business needs and to clarify objectives
• Creates and maintains standard and detailed procedures concerning dataset development
• Provides top level expertise on data solutions that potentially can be leveraged across the organization
• Researches emerging technologies and analyzes the benefits of adopting those technologies
• Explores data and discovers meaningful patterns and trends such as anomalies
• Enforces and reviews documentations
C. Quality Assurance

• Establish data dictionary and standards
• Recommends improvement in data dictionary and standards
D. Production Support and Maintenance

• Analyzes performance issues and implement performance tuning and optimization
• Tracks and resolves data inconsistencies
• May recommend changes and enhancements to improve system efficiency
• Recommends temporary workarounds to issues until permanent fixes are implemented
• Seeks technical assistance from other teams when issues require coordination
• May implement software/hardware changes as necessary
• Performs capacity and workload planning
• Recommends changes and enhancements to improve system efficiency
• Implements software/hardware changes as necessary
• Performs RCA and devises long-term resolution to recurring issues and problems
• Engages with 3rd party vendors for support as necessary

• Ensures adherence
• Establishes standard models and SOPs
F. Customer Service

• Informs end-users about issues and enhancements that may affect them
• Train end-users how to utilize BI tools
G. Mentoring

• Provides assistance, guidance and training to other members
Job Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or specialized training/certification. Or equivalent work experience.
• MS SQL Server (2005, 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2017+)
• Windows Server (2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2+)
• Visual Studio
• PowerBI or the likes, Excel
• ERD, logical and physical data modeling
• 8+ years of experience in MSSQL 2012 or newer
• At least 5 years of experience supporting a major system
• In-depth knowledge of the industry and multiple business functional areas
• Can juggle multiple projects with minimal supervision
• Continuous deployment, change management experience
• Advanced proficiency in data analysis and data mining
• Advanced proficiency in DWBI
• Experience leading teams
• Off-hours support is required as needed
