Job Description

  • Provide database support in complex issues and critical situations for the entire spectrum of plan, build and run of database service in Dev/Test/Prod and DR environments
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
  • Take responsible for planning and organizing database software installation, database creation, access and security management, performance tuning, backup & restoration, script running, patch installation etc
  • Design, configure and manage multiple MS SQL Server databases with Always On Availability Group feature for high-availability and disaster recovery solution
  • Perform in-depth root cause analysis of database problems
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
  • Work in close cooperation with experts from other infrastructure disciplines within the Global Infrastructure Operation Center as well as in the onshore IT teams
  • Ensure system security and protect against security risks, apply security fixes, and monitor system activity.
  • Communicate with delivery management, onshore teams, and application team work status, alerts, and service notifications tailored to the needs of specific audiences
  • Manage technical projects and provide expert consulting on technical initiatives
  • Proactively assist the Operations Delivery Manager in service planning
  • Document work, update/create Standard Operating Procedures, and brief team members and key users
  • Continually improve personal knowledge and skills relevant to current duties, through on the job experience, self-directed research or formal training
  • Works in shifts and takes part in the on-call duty

  • >8 years of experience in MS SQL Server DBA activities like database lifecycle management, creation, upgrade, migration, patching, cloning, backup & recovery, alert monitoring, space & user management, resolving performance issues, database corruption
  • Strong practical knowledge of MS SQL Server 2016, 2017 & 2019
  • In-depth experience on installing, upgrading, migrating and patching MS SQL Server databases
  • Strong practical knowledge of configuring, installing and maintaining MS SQL Server Always-on Availability Group and MS SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances
  • Excellent database troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
  • Experience in logical backup of import & export utilities.
  • Experience in using utilities to troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Expert knowledge on physical and logical database structure
  • In-depth experience in database structure languages such as SQL or SQL/PSM, and PowerShell scripting
  • In-depth experience in user creation, privileges, roles and quotas.
  • In-depth knowledge of database backup and recovery
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong documentation skills
  • MS SQL Database Administration certification, and experience in Oracle and MySQL databases in Linux platform are a plus
