Role/Department Description:
FactSet is seeking a talented and highly motivated Software Engineering Team Leader with at least 5 years of industry experience to join and lead the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) development team in Manila. Excellent technical, interpersonal, and organizational skills combined with an understanding of software development processes are essential.
A Software Engineering Team Lead for Factset's Content Engineering Team reports to the Engineering Manager and coordinates with onshore and offshore stakeholders to deliver ESG products. S/he also designs solutions for data integration and backend infrastructure using various technologies (including C++, Perl, Python, C#, SQL), supporting the FactSet product suite. Engineers have the responsibility for all phases of development working with product owners, product developers, and scrum masters.

  • 40% Coordinate and advise with peers, stakeholders (mostly from US, UK, and Japan), and remote leaders, oversee and project manage teams to meet stated goals and objectives. Ensures the core goals of the broader teams under management are being met and that the right priorities are in focus at all times.

  • 40% Trains, mentors, and manages engineering team leads to perform highly in their roles. Ensure we continue to build the scale necessary for a growing organization to meet the growth needs together and build capable team leaders able to become senior leaders of tomorrow

  • 10% Hire and train new personnel to meet the needs of the teams. Collaborate with local and remote leaders on staffing needs Ensure we meet hiring plan objectives and that we hire and train the right personnel to perform the work needed

  • 10% Problem solve and work on the higher-level design (operational or architectural) to ensure the effectiveness of the products under management. Ensure the organization is operating as efficiently as possible

  • Provide technical leadership to the Manila ESG team

  • Drive Factset's Digital Transformation initiative and improve the quality, timeliness, and maintainability of content products

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • At least 5 years of industry experience and strong leadership skills

  • Software development fundamentals. Core job function.

  • Excellent English communication skills - effectively communicate with a globally diverse team

  • Analytical problem-solving. Decompose complex problems and operational events

  • Patience and ability to train/mentor others Train and mentor new hires/Associate Team Leads

  • Experience developing and deploying production software. To effectively mentor others on the process for developing and ensuring high-quality solutions

  • Strong organizational and context switching abilities. Effectively handle different agendas and projects, moving simultaneously.

  • Self-motivation and independence

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Willingness to shift hours a few times per week to conference with US/London based teams

  • Experience working with C++, Python, and C#

  • Experience working with SQL and database design

  • Experience in data integration/ETL

  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl, or Bash
