Job Description

The Reliability and Certification Engineer will be part of a team responsible for supporting the hardware design of DeltaV hardware products and ensuring product specifications are maintained throughout the product lifecycle. This specific role will be responsible for providing reliability data to our internal design teams and end users, and supporting world-wide certification efforts for our DeltaV Product line.


  • Support the global certification of DeltaV products by working with certification agencies and design team for new product development or product changes

  • Collaborate with other departments to develop processes and procedures to meet current and future standards for industrial equipment

  • Keep up-to-date with industry standards related to electrical industrial equipment installed in ordinary and hazardous areas

  • Monitor product changes and update compliance reports as needed

  • Support local (country specific) certification agencies by providing allowed information (engineering drawings, certification reports, test reports) to in-country teams

  • Provide design support by calculating theoretical MTBF data for new products based on components used

  • Review field failure data and provide updated MTBF numbers based on actual usage

  • Perform System Availability calculations using proprietary MTBF data and individual customer BOM (Bills of Material). This will result in a customer ready report

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related degree
  • Minimum 4 years of related work experience in electronic design or product certifications
  • Understanding of product development lifecycle and certifications as it pertains to electrical equipment installed in ordinary and hazardous areas
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills with ability to relay technical information in English (verbal, written and interpersonal) to exchange information on product architectures and certifications with US-based team
  • Analytical ability to determine and develop solutions to moderately complex problems

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in failure modeling or reliability
  • Experience with failure modeling and database implementation to update data and tools as new products are introduced
  • Experience applying EMC, Product Safety, Hazardous Area or Functional Safety standards to product development such as
    • EN 61326-1
    • CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1
    • IEC 60079-0
    • IEC 60079-7
    • IEC 60079-11
    • FM3611
    • IEC 61508
  • Experience with project management for product design
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities
  • Experience of working (either by telephone, e-mail or directly) with people in multiple countries and time zones, exchanging information
