SFP Operations: Principal Cloud Operations/Devops Engineer
With tremendous market success in our Cloud Applications, especially in ERP Cloud, Higher Ed institutions have expressed unprecedented interest in embarking a cloud adoption journey with Oracle. Student Information Systems, a critical functional area to complete in our SaaS footprint for Higher Ed, is one top investment priority for Oracle. With over 800+ institutions using Campus Solutions today, our charter is to strike the balance of accelerating the delivery of Student Cloud while continuing to deliver value for existing Campus Solutions customers.
Student Financial Planning (SFP) is a leading student-centric, cloud-based financial aid solution for higher education institutions, acquired by Oracle in 2018 to transform their Oracle Student Cloud suite and offer institutions the most complete SaaS solution suite in higher education. Oracle Student Cloud is Oracle's next-generation, cloud-based SIS designed for all academic models across every stage of the modern student lifecycle.
This role is for a Principal Cloud Operations/Devops Engineer responsible for automated implementation, configuration and maintenance of SFP cloud technologies while ensuring that all supporting infrastructure is robust, fault tolerant and adheres to customer configuration standards in multiple environments. Our team is responsible for supporting a containerized, Java based SaaS solution that runs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and we are migrating legacy product and infrastructure to OCI. This role offers the opportunity to work primarily remotely with limited travel requirements.
Responsibilities include:
  • Working closely with Development, QA and Project Management teams to manage development, test and production environments
  • Automating routine and complex operational tasks
  • Managing product release deployments
  • Managing internal and external customer problem tickets by driving issues to resolution, both independently and collaboratively
  • Providing SFP Operations support on a 24x7 rotational basis

Our ideal candidate is a senior level Devops resource with both development and sysops skillsets who is comfortable collaborating in a team environment as well as working independently. The ability to speak confidently and share evidenceand ideas that translate to solutionsto complex technical problems is critical to being successful in this role.
Requirements include:

Primary Technical Skills:
  • Linux (Oracle Linux, CentOS) and Mac OSX Systems Administration
  • Scripting Languages (Groovy, Python, Bash, Ruby)
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OKE, Compute, DbaaS, Networking, Storage)
  • Containerization with Docker running on Helm chart-based Kubernetes clusters
  • HashiCorp Vault
  • Oracle 12c and higher RDBMS, Oracle Clustering and Grid Infrastructure
  • Version Control Systems Git/Bitbucket
  • Terraform
  • Configuration automation systems (Ansible, Chef)
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment systems (Jenkins, TeamCity)
  • System monitoring and alerting (Grafana, Prometheus, Oracle Management Cloud)
  • Networking (Designing virtual private networks, virtual cloud networks, subnet and security lists, DNS, proxies)
  • Security protocols (SSL, TLS, HTTPS, key management)

Secondary Technical Skills:
  • AWS (Ec2, RDS, CloudWatch, Networking)
  • MySQL
  • GoldenGate
  • Log Management tools

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
