Job Role:
The Mid to Senior Business Analyst is deeply involved in the development of a new financial platform and integration of new data sources, becoming a general purpose expert across many aspects of the platform. You will provide a link between the platform’s capabilities and its business objectives by coordinating with the technical team (developers, system administrators, and testers) and business subject matter experts.

  • Defining detailed product requirement documents and definitions that promote scalability, smart practices and an intuitive platform.
  • Provide detailed data mapping between external cloud based APIs and internally defined data models.
  • Define and understand the complexities of financial and operational data from third party APIs and their developer documentation
  • Document requirements by studying business functions, gathering information from users, and evaluating output.
  • Working with software engineers and test team to develop, test and implement platform features and bug fixes.
  • Providing support to users to enable them to use the platform appropriately or to report bugs where necessary.
  • Consultation in the development of launch plans, ensuring detailed planning of deliverables.
  • Partnering with business stakeholders to identify, refine, and document detailed business system requirements and user stories.
  • Working with end users to provide training, document standard operating procedures and workflows, assess user needs and recommend changes.
  • Managing individual and team priorities, deadlines and deliverables, using a variety of standard tools to maintain great working practices
Enthusiasm, curiosity and individual accountability are key to success in Innovation and Ventures, along with minimum technical proficiencies including:
  • Degree qualified (ideally a STEM degree)
  • 2+ years’ experience working in requirements gathering for IT based projects
  • Basic understanding of financial information concepts including profit and loss, balance sheets and ​accounting practices within Australia, UK or US etc.
  • Excellent communication and receptive listening skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • An exceptional problem solver with strong organisational skills and a process-driven mindset.
  • Proven leadership capability with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Experience in building user stories, functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Basic understanding and experience of programming and/or SQL query and/or API documentation.
  • Experience with web-based APIs and tools
  • Experience with requirements management and test management tools.
