Job Description

The Non-SAP Operations Platform Engineer is part of SC Johnson’s Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) function within the IT organization, and reports to the Non-SAP Operations Manager for Application Infrastructure Management (AIM). This role will be responsible for the standard delivery and operations of platform services supporting SCJ’s non-SAP applications. The platform services include installation, configuration, database administration, automation, monitoring, capacity management and lifecycle. Hosted applications extend from Business Managed Applications to Enterprise Applications such as Teradata, Informatica, Tableau, Tibco, ADAM and Webcenter. Database services include both Microsoft SQL and Teradata. Applications may be hosted either on-premise or in the cloud (IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS). Microsoft Azure is used for Infrastructure- and Platform-as-a-Service (IaaS and PaaS).

The Non-SAP Operations Platform Engineer will drive and execute on-going platform stability and maturity initiatives while also enabling operational efficiency. This will be done through the on-going development and execution of patterns for standard delivery and upgrades. And it will also be achieved through on-going automations. This area is projected to increase significantly in upcoming years, and we are looking to establish a streamlined process of engaging and delivering standard services. This role will be pivotal in rolling out that process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
o Provides technical oversight of Managed Service Providers ensuring delivery of SLA’s, as well as identification of on-going continuous improvement.
o Support for projects that follow existing standards.
o Development of playbooks and technical documentation to ensure delivery is consistent and repeatable.
o Lead and/or participate in various projects: strategic and operational initiatives.
o Work closely with architecture to refine approaches for monitoring, capacity and lifecycle management.
o Lead and/or participate in developing service lifecycle strategy and roadmap.
o Lead and/or participate in platform upgrades, capacity management efforts, and performance management and improvement efforts.
o Operationalize disaster recovery solutions.
o Drive Process improvements and optimization through Automation
o Define and Maintain Framework/Guidelines for Automation, CI/CD, and DevOps
o Uphold and refine metrics and reporting to showcase achievement in delivery and operations.
o Provides technical assistance to less experienced staff.
o Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met.
o Champion the resolution of technically significant issues affecting the platform through personal ownership and coordinate teams and stakeholders.

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or related business degree or relevant military experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
• Five years of Infrastructure experience.
• Experience working with a global team.
• Experience in writing technical requirements and/or design specifications.
• Experience managing multiple complex tasks/initiative spanning a variety of technology areas.

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
• Experience with one or more of the following: Teradata, Informatica, Tableau, Tibco, ADAM or Webcenter.
• Self-Starter that demonstrates extreme accountability- ownership and initiative.
• Experience overseeing a Managed Service Provider.
• DevOps experience.
• IT Operations experience.
• Microsoft Azure Cloud Certification.
• ITIL Certification.
• Understanding of basic Networking, SSL, Kerberos, Encryption, SSO, and SAML concepts
• Understanding of basic Runtime Environment topics (IIS/Apache/JAVA)
• Automation tools experience (i.e. Terraform, Ansible)
• Project Management experience
• Exceptional interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with and manage ambiguity.
