Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the 24x7 operations and maintenance of the company global network.
  • Lead a team of network operations engineers providing comprehensive L1 to L3 support across company’s network environment.
  • Work closely with the Global Networks management & Engineering team to ensure solutions are delivered in an appropriate manner that enables consistent and effective support by the Network Ops team
  • Establish and provide a pro-active Network Operations Engineering approach using and developing monitoring and alerting tools to provide leading indicators to the health, availability and reliability of the environment.
  • Ensure all changes to production follow the company Permit to Operate process and adhere to Change Control processes.
  • Provide escalation and support 24 x7 to assist with the resolution of complex technical issues
  • Measure and manage the escalation process, reviewing the quality of escalations between L1 and L3
  • Represent the Global Networks team on major incidents and contribute to incident reports
  • Ensure all Service Desk requests and incidents are assigned and managed through to resolution
  • Measurement and continual improvement of KPIs in relation to change, requests and incidents
  • Review global network change requests and approve in readiness for deployment
  • Manage relationships with 3rd party vendors and suppliers and ensure all network infrastructure is supported to a level that meets the needs of the business
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of all aspects of the enterprise network
  • Monitoring and reporting on network performance and usage for operational and capacity planning purposes
  • Delegating workload, annual staff reviews and recruitment
  • Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development

Requirements for the role:
Technical
  • Good knowledge of Cisco Switching and Routing Technologies
  • Good knowledge of Firewall platforms & VPN Technologies
  • Good knowledge of Application & Content Delivery platforms
  • Good knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications infrastructure
  • Good knowledge of Network Management tools

Non-Technical
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Strong customer service skills, focused upon meeting customer needs
  • Complex service delivery experience, preferably in a Multi-Vendor environment
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a pressured environment
  • A pro-active approach to Service Management, focus on preventative to reactive support.
  • Shift left Continuous Improvement approach.

Experience:
  • Experience of managing a Network Operations team operating 24*7
  • Previous responsibility for supporting networks in an enterprise scale environment
  • Knowledge and experience with ITSM/ITIL V3 Reference model
  • Experience of working in Financial Services

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Cisco CCNP or above, Check Point CCSA and ITIL Foundation highly desirable
