JOB SUMMARY
The MST Batch Analyst will be the point of contact in their time zone and support from Batch Operations lower environment team during the daily operational tasks. To ensure we are tracking to task and understanding and communicating any business impacts if there are any issues or delays across daily processing.
  • To respond quickly and knowledgeably to batch processing related support, reporting and schedule requests in lower environments
  • Working with the MST Batch Operations N+1 Team Lead and teams across EYTech and Workload Automation to monitor system alerts, interfaces and batch jobs and helping to resolve incidents in production and lower environments where appropriate
  • Notify the leadership team if any schedule change will affect the timely completion of any batch processing
  • Provide regular timely updates to their lead and team as to the process of the daily passes
  • Follow all EYTech standards for incident and change management
  • Capture and document requirements for lower environment job schedule changes.
  • Monitor scheduled batch jobs and batch schedules, resolving any non-application scheduling conflicts
  • Ensure re-runs requested by the lower environment owners to restart jobs are done so accordance to operation procedures and documentation.
  • Follow the job run documentation and notify the environment owners as appropriate to re-define the documentation if required.
  • Help provide data analysis and produce end to end daily batch production report summary for each pass across the weekend.
  • Help provide trend analysis on job performance and runtimes.
  • Help produce monthly metrics on batch job executions, runtimes and performance, highlighting any jobs that require attention and optimisation.
  • Support the MST Batch Lower Environment Team Lead and ensure the smooth hand over between shifts to other members of the team for any incidents issues ongoing and to provide a clear concise update for how the batch has processed across the weekend.
  • As part of the MST Batch Operations efforts, a batch analyst is required to ensure we have a holistic view of the complete batch estate.
  • Analyse historic runtimes, identify and present trends and propose improvements.
  • Analyse recent runtimes and incorporate batch improvements to create month end processing milestone delivery times.
  • Part of the role will include working with our automation team and being experienced at using the Control-M tool to analyse and schedule jobs.
  • A technical background and batch processing experience is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  • Demonstrable track record of batch analysis within SAP non-production environments.
  • Proven analytical skillset to analyse control-M data, batch requirements and design.
  • SAP technical knowledge is ECC and other application.
  • Ability to facilitate design and requirement gathering discussions for batch scheduling.
  • Ability to work with change management team and processes to evaluate change requests for batch. Maintaining consistent track of jobs in SAP landscape for non-production systems.
  • Risk assessments and escalation of batch processing issues daily, weekly and monthly.
  • Ensure the batch runbook is maintained and managed correctly. Assist in the completion of a robust runbook that optimizes support needs across various teams.
  • The roles requires the individual to operate as a SME within the scope of batch processing and management.
  • Work with application support teams to further escalate issues to management when system availability is in jeopardy.
  • Extensive experience working with 3rd party vendors as service providers like IBM -AMS and AHS.
  • Enforce compliance of the process (implementation, assessment, quality etc).
  • Liaise with the SAP other technology teams for batch enhancements.
  • Work with test performance teams to coordinate and ensure all jobs are tested prior to being promoted to production.
  • Production of daily and weekly batch reporting.
  • Use Control-M scheduling tool to support/review/amend scheduling changes submitted by support teams.
  • Monitor and control the work to ensure that the project/work stream remains on track and in control.
  • Work within defined governance processes.
  • Good knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Deep understanding of complex SAP implementation programs with dual paths to production.
  • Proven experience with a Fortune 500 company working in a global environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Reporting into the MST Batch Operations N+1 Team Lead.
  • Working within a small team and often on their own.
  • Service Delivery Teams, e.g. Finance, Enterprise Data Warehouse teams.
  • Third party vendors and SI support teams.
  • Business and IT partners on release schedule and communication of progress.
  • Operations managers to achieve successful transition of project deliverables into lower environment support.
  • Communications and change management resources with EY global services.
  • Working closely with IT service functions for alignment and delivery.
  • Work closely with MST Transition team from a technical and business perspective to manage deliveries.
  • Explain scheduling concepts and train support team members in preparation of scheduling changes
  • Work across technical and functional teams to consolidate the batch into larger scoped jobs to replace the use of country specific jobs where feasible

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience working with SAP, Control-M, Change Management ChaRM, Solution Manager and ServiceNow or other workload automation tools.
  • Ability to navigate through various OS systems and execute scripts (Windows , Unix and Linux, Oracle/ SQLPlus)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills - must be able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Very good understanding of the customer strategy, services and business processes where it applies to batch processing.
  • Ability to work and team effectively with IT Services groups and other management personnel including on a global, virtual basis.
  • IT background with experience across the SAP development life cycle with experience in different project phases.
  • Demonstrates commitment to IT methodologies, processes and standards for transition planning and support.
  • Provide quality metrics and reporting to promote compliance.
  • Ability to build good relationships both within own team and with other teams.
  • Ability to bring multi-disciplined teams together into one delivery team (large or small teams).
  • Ability to determine strategic direction not just tactical.

  • Experience with dealing with Operations and Service Support teams.
  • Experience across packaged and bespoke systems and infrastructure, ideally on an international basis.
  • Experience of Service management techniques gained through IT program/project delivery and in an IT support environment.
  • Understanding of business processes and finance workflow is preferable.

SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly and indirectly supervise staff members in the development, implementation, and delivery of systems to business and or technical requirements.
  • Recommend the selection of and be responsible for the performance management of staff members.
  • Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of team members and/or business representatives as appropriate.
  • As appropriate set priorities for the team to ensure task completion and coordinate work activities with other supervisors.
  • Take accountability for the performance and results of a team within own discipline or function.
  • Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience of having worked on large, global IT deployment programs including preparing for go-live and supporting the immediate post go-live period.
  • ITILv3 certification preferred
  • History working with either IBM or SAP as a vendor.
  • Knowledge of Control-M tool or other workload automation tool
  • Identify improvements in monitoring and management that can be enabled through Control M or other tools

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years IT related experience.
  • Approximately 2 years of experience in SAP batch management is essential.
  • One or more professional certificates to supplement formal education.
  • Good experience in client-facing roles.
