Employees in this level provide detailed and comprehensive support/expertise to a specific area of the business by taking on responsibility for tasks of an organizational, process or operational nature. Requires in-depth experience and a high (advanced or expert) proficiency knowledge level in several aspects of a process. Understands the complex process environment to ensure maximum efficiency. Provides detailed and comprehensive support/expertise to 1 or more areas of business by taking on and being responsible for associated organizational/ operational/process management tasks. Delivers, within a broad and integrated environment, high-quality (custom) solutions for the processing of standard products/files. Is considered as a specialist in a number of processes/products (high risk related) and usually works on a day-to-day basis in an environment of a medium level of complexity with minimal supervision. Has knowledge of the latest developments in the internal market and integrates this knowledge into day-today activities. Reports deviations to the appropriate person/body. Understands the mission and vision of the company and has the ability to integrate this in day-to-day activities or as input for projects. Acts in line with ING rules and policies and monitors compliance with these regulations.
Main Tasks / Important Responsibilities and Results:
  • Knowledge Management
    • Ensure knowledge of banking products and operational processes. Analyze process related problems and suggest possible solutions/improvements.
    • Ensure knowledge of banking products and operational processes is captured and documented in work instructions and procedures. Ensures that knowledge of banking products and operational processes is recognized and documented in work instructions and procedures. Does this for complex products and projects.
    • Ensure knowledge transfer to new staff and provide guidance and feedback. Trains junior and new senior staff. Provides feedback to management on the work performance of junior staff. Capable to act as a POC when the team lead is absent.
  • Service Delivery
    • Solve problems and act as point of escalation for complex and high risk issues/exceptions and decide upon measures/solutions. Is point of contact for escalation of more complex and risky problems/exceptions. Comes up with and makes decisions about measures/solutions.
    • Monitor performance and identify cause/effect relationships. Monitors his own work in quality and quantity and tracks the team performance. Presents the outcome of team performance in team meetings.

  • Process Management
    • Identify improvement areas and develop practical improvement solutions for existing processes/procedures/work instructions, technology and organization. Identifies areas with room for improvement. Develops practical proposals for improvement of complex processes, procedures, work instructions and technology.
    • Provide input to projects based on own expertise (content/process driven) and monitor the impact of the project on the operational execution. Provides input for projects based on his own experience and best practices. Monitors the impact of projects on operational execution and acts on the findings.
    • Implement process/technology/organisation improvements and ensure proper understanding by involved parties. Implements improvements in the area of standard processes and technology. Makes sure parties involved are kept informed about improvements.

Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor studies, preferred economics, econometrics, mathematic, language studies.
  • Professional certificates (e.g. ACAMS, IGA) is an advantage
  • 2-4 year banking and finance work experience specifically in CTF/AML/Compliance in the financial delivery centre of a global bank, compliance/legal department of financial institution, or from a consulting firm
  • Experience in working as part of a Center of Excellence acting as AML/CFT specialist or Regulatory Specialist.
  • Proactive and self-driven
  • Capable to train others, transfer knowledge and share expertise with KYC teams
  • Highly organized and agile
  • Able to work well, apply sound judgement and make timely decisions under pressure
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Good cooperation with the team
  • Contributing in a technical AML discussions with the client representatives (Policy, MLRO/Compliance, central SME team) on e.g. defining guidance, working instructions, policy clarifications, escalating AML issues, discussing project wide and case specific AML technical issues
  • Being able to clearly present point of view during AML technical discussions with the client by presenting rationale and supporting arguments
