What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for first level of support for Backups Services Team and taking initial incident tickets, rerunning backups. monitoring, performing and resolution of backups and restores, and escalation of issues to additional levels that requires more in-depth troubleshooting,
  • Monitor all backup and restore activities;
  • Responsible for restarting of failed backups. Following procedures or process for troubleshooting backup failures.
  • Handle incidents relating to backup failures and change tickets related to restore requests;
  • Perform restores for Netbackup and Avamar (Windows, Unix, Exchange, SQL, VM, etc.)
  • Escalation to additional NetBackup levels in the event the failure cannot be resolved
  • Provide status reports to Team Lead and Operations Systems Manager about failure trends or other challenges.
  • Monitor and review tape device status
  • Contact vendors to open service calls for support of hardware
  • Provide follow up on backup tickets in other team’s queues
  • Provide and submit daily/weekly team reports

What bring:
  • 3 years and up experience in Netbackup and Avamar backup tools are a must have
  • Experience in other backup tools (TSM, Data Protector, Backup Exec, Commvault, etc.) is a plus
  • Must be willing to work in a 24x7 shift
  • Must have excellent skills in customer handling / client interaction
  • Monitoring of all backup and restore activities
  • Restarting of failed backups. Following procedures or process for troubleshooting backup failures.
  • Effective communication and team skills with an ability to cooperate, present to and participate with peers/team members.
  • Basic knowledge of operating systems and systems administration concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and technologies as well as a personal commitment to stay current with latest technology concepts.
  • Good problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.
