Job Description
We are looking for experienced Senior Database Administrator who will support a European market leader in the laboratory diagnostics sector, which has been operating within a strong inter¬national network of laboratory doctors and specialists since 2010. Approximately 20,000 employees in 35 countries dedicate their efforts in laboratory diagnostics to human and veterinary medicine as well as to services in environ¬mental analysis.

For the Global IT Infrastructure Operation Center in Manila/Philippines we need a dedicated individual to:

• Provide database support in complex issues and critical situations for the entire spectrum of plan, build and run of database service in Dev/Test/Prod and DR environments

• Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security

• Take responsible for planning and organizing database, database creation, manage users, password security, privileges & roles, performance tuning, restoration, user creation, script running, patch installation etc

• Design, configure and manage Oracle Data Guard clusters and My SQL replication

• Perform in-depth root cause analysis of database problems

• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours

• Work in close cooperation with experts from other infrastructure disciplines within the Global Infrastructure Operation Center as well as in the onshore IT teams

• Ensure system security and protect against security risks, apply security fixes, and monitor system activity.

• Ensure system compliance with SYNLAB’s security and privacy policies and other regulations such as NIST 800-171, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.

• Communicate with delivery management, onshore teams, and application team work status, alerts, and service notifications tailored to the needs of specific audiences

• Manage technical projects and provide expert consulting on technical initiatives

• Proactively assist the Operations Delivery Manager in service planning

• Document work, update/create Standard Operating Procedures, and brief team members and key users

• Continually improve personal knowledge and skills relevant to current duties, through on the job experience, self-directed research or formal training

• Works in shifts and takes part in the on-call duty

Qualifications:
• >8 years of experience in Oracle and MySQL DBA activities like database life cycle management, creation, upgrade, migration, patching, cloning, backup & recovery, alert monitoring, space & user management, resolving performance issues, database corruption

• Strong practical Knowledge of Oracle 12.X

• In-depth experience on installing, upgrading, migrating and patching Oracle and MySQL databases

• Strong practical knowledge of configuring, installing and maintaining Oracle Data Guard

• Strong practical knowledge of configuring and installing MySQL replication

• Excellent database troubleshooting and performance tuning skills

• Experience in logical backup of import & export, data pump utilities.

• Experience in using utilities to troubleshoot performance issues.

• Expert knowledge on physical and logical database structure

• In-depth experience in writing SQL, PL/SQL Scripts

• In-depth experience in user creation, privileges, roles and quotas.

• In-depth experience in creation of tablespaces, adding data files, control files, redo log files, archive log files.

• In-depth knowledge of database backup and recovery

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong documentation skills

• Oracle/MySQL certifications are a plus
